BattleGroup42 Mod for Battlefield 1942
======================================

This is Beta Release 0.8 of BattleGroup42. It is intended
for Battlefield 1942 version 1.45.

If you enjoy it, we ask you to donate a BG42

This mod is designed for all game modes:
Multiplayer: Conquest, Capture the Flag (CTF) and Team
Deathmatch (TDM)
SinglePlayer: Coop, Campaign, and Instant Battle.

NOTE: The Windows install program will default to
installing in your Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield1942
\Mods directory - edit this directory during the install
if you have Battlefield1942 installed elsewhere.

This mod aims to improve on the original BF1942 by putting in
missing vehicles, aircraft and hand weapons, and making the
play more realistic, without sacrificing gameplay.

There are a number of significant features in this release:

1) A new historically accurage armour/damage modelling system.
Each vehicle now has its historically correct armour and gun power.
Be aware that the sides of tanks in real life are frequently much
more vulnerable than the front (and sometimes more than the rear).

2) Incorporation of the latest version of the RealPlane mod by
Psychoslaphead. The most obvious change is that fighter aircraft
now have cannons as secondary armament instead of bombs. Other
changes improve aircraft flying and dogfighting by bots.

3) New aircraft: JU52 (Gazala), Lancaster (OMG, El Alamein &
Gazala), Me262 (Bocage) and JU88A (El Alamein & Bocage).

4) New small-arms/hand weapons from the Weapons of War mod team:
Sten for British medic
PPsh41 for Russian medic
Type 100 SMG for Japanese medic
Katana sword for all Japanese classes

5) New German, Russian and Hungarian vehicles (ready for upcoming Hungarian maps):
Jagdpanther tank destroyer (Bocage)
Sturmgeschutz IIIG assault gun (El Alamein & Bulge)
IS-2 heavy tank (Berlin)
Turan tank (Kursk)
Zrinyi assault gun (Kursk)
Nimrod anti-aircraft tank (Kursk)

6) New version of the Operation Market Garden map - Allied forces are now British
(British tanks, Spitfires, Lancaster and even British bots). They have
to break through an '88' screen to reinforce those holding the Arnhem bridge.

7) New soldier skins: British and German desert skins, US Pacific
skin, and US snow skin (Battle of the Bulge).

8) New vehicle skins: King Tiger, Panther, Tiger, and others.

9) 1.45 support for official BG42 map conversions
(Battle of Britain and Operation Barbarossa).

This mod has been designed for Battlefield 1942 Version 1.45.

To run, go into Custom Game, select BattleGroup080 and
click Activate.

If you have BG-Teamwork or an earlier Battlegroup42 installed,
please uninstall, if appropriate, via Settings/Control Panel/
Add-Remove Programs (you may also need to delete the
Battlefield 1942/Mods/BG-Teamwork or Battlegroup folder as
the BF1942.exe puts a log file in there when it's run).

The mod introduces appropriate vehicles as the war progresses
and should ideally be played (at least once) in chronological
order - as indicated by the number beside each map in the
Create Game menu.

Although this mod is the first to introduce
the correct historical vehicles for maps, it is not
primarily a realism mod - it does not introduce one-shot
kills or take away the engineer's wrench.

This version retains existing Teamwork features such as
strengthened infantry APCs with the ability to repair tanks
and other vehicles and the ability for the Panzer II
and Stuart light tanks to spot for artillery (right-click in
position 2). For those who haven't found it yet, you can fire
smoke grenades from the King Tiger (right-click in position 2).
