DC_Extended Combat manual
=========================

Revision 0.38d.8 (7/8/2003 @ 19:29)
By Zeuser (DC_Extended@Hotmail.com)

Purpose of this manual
----------------------

This manual is to teach players on how to operate the DC_Extended modifications
as well as provide tactics on how to effectively use the weapons.

Requirements
------------

You need to know how to fully operate the basic Desert Combat vehicles to get
the maximum from this document. You must know how to drive the vehicles, how to
operate the weapons and how to use any special functions in each vehicles.

You also should know how to configure your controls for each type (Infantry,
ground and air).

Notes
-----

The keys mentioned in this instruction manual are the default keys as defined
by battlefield 1942. You key configuration can, and probably is different.

AC-130
------

Dc_Extended adds a MOAB and paradropping Humvees to the AC-130 spectre.

	Dropping the MOAB
	-----------------

Get into the AC-130 by pressing the "E" key. Once inside switch to position
"6". You'll see 2 ammobars. One with the Humvee and the other with a bomb.

Press the primary fire to drop the MOAB bomb. You only have one and you must
go back to the airstrip to reload another one.

	Paradropping Humvees
	--------------------

Get into the AC-130 by pressing the "E" key. Once inside switch to position
"6". You'll see 2 ammobars. One with the Humvee and the other with a bomb.

Press the secondary fire to paradrop a humvee. You get two and then you must
go back to the airstrip to reload two more humvees. You will not see the
Humvees in the back of the AC-130. This is to save space and allow players
	to move around.

	Tactics
	-------

When dropping a Humvee make sure the AC-130 is flying straight and level.
Coordinate with the pilot to ensure he doesn't make a sudden change in
direction that could cause the Humvee parachute to get caught up in the
tail and go crashing down to earth.

If you're paratrooping troops in an area try to drop the Humvee just before
the paratroopers jump out the back of the AC-130. The Humvee will parachute
to the ground much slower than a paratrooper. Get the paratroopers to secure
the landing zone of any enemy snipers and/or vehicles before the Humvee arrives.

Try not to enter the Humvee before it reaches the ground. A slow parachuting
Humvee full of paratroopers is a juicy target for any nearby enemies.

Try not to paradrop the Humvee directly into enemy teritory. Try to drop the
Humvee near the enemie's location but make sure it's landing zone is clear
	of any enemies.

When dropping a MOAB make sure the AC-130 is flying straight and level. If
the AC-130 is in a steep dive the MOAB could very well hit the AC-130. Make
sure the AC-130 is at a high enough altitude to avoid being destroyed by the
	MOAB blast.

Try to drop the MOAB in areas which are heavily used by enemies. The MOAB is
a weapon of mass destruction. It's a shameful waste to use it on a single
vehicle or trooper. Try to kill as many enemies with a single MOAB.

Drop the MOAB slightly before you reach the target area. The MOAB has a
parachute to slow it's descent. It will not drop directly below the AC-130.

Blackhawk
---------

DC_Extended adds another minigun on the left side of the Blackhawk.

	Using the left minigun
	----------------------

Get into the Blackhawk by pessing "E". Once inside switch to position "4" to
use the minigun. Move the mouse up/down and left/right to target enemies.
Press primary fire to fire bullets. It works the same way as the minigun on
	the other side.

	Tactics
	-------

Coordinate with the pilot so that he can make left turns and allow you to
	shoot targets on the ground.

Use the minigun to defend against aircraft. It's powerful enough to bring
	down other aircraft.

Get the pilot to flight right through the middle of an area crowded with
enemies. This will allow both miniguns to lay waste.

Try to get at least 3 people on board the Blackhawk before taking off so
you can make the most of the Blackhawk's weapons.

Hind
----

DC_Extended adds 2 doorguns to the Hind. One on each side.

	Using the left doorgun
	----------------------

Get into the Hind by pressing "E". Once inside, press "3" to use the left
doorgun. Use the Up and down arrow keys to open the doors so you get a better
view of the targets around you. Move the mouse up/down and left/right to
target enemies. Press primary fire to fire bullets.

	Using the right doorgun
	-----------------------

Get into the Hind by pressing "E". Once inside, press "4" to use the right
doorgun. Use the Up and down arrow keys to open the doors so you get a better
view of the targets around you. Move the mouse up/down and left/right to
target enemies. Press primary fire to fire bullets.

	Tactics
	-------

Use the doorguns to defend against aircraft. It's powerful enough to bring
	down other aircraft.

Get the pilot to flight right through the middle of an area crowded with
enemies. This will allow both doorguns as well as the front turret chaingun
	to lay waste.

Try to get at least 4 people on board the Hind before taking off so you can
make the most of the Hind's weapons.

SCUD-B
------

DC_Extended addes a player guided missile to the SCUD launcher.

	Using the SCUD launcher (truck)
	-------------------------------

Walk up to the SCUD truck and press "E" to enter. Use the "W" and "S" keys
to throttle up/down the engine. Use the "A" and "D" keys to turn left/right.

Raise the ramp using the up arrow key and lower it by using the down arrow key.
The ramp raises very slowly. Press the "F10" or "F11" keys to monitor the ramp
	from an external view.

If you get an "artillery needed" message, press secondary fire to switch to
the artillery view to get an indication of where you need to fire the SCUD
	rocket.

Press primary fire to launch the player guided SCUD rocket.

Flying the player guided SCUD rocket
	------------------------------------

Use the flight controls; pitch , yaw and roll to control the SCUD rocket.

	Tactics
	-------

Try to raise the ramp from 75 to 90 degrees from horizontal before launching.
The SCUD rocket will drop back a bit upon launch. If there isn't enough
elevation on the ramp it will hit the truck and kill you.

Try to position the SCUD truck in a well defended area before lauching. While
you're flying the rocket the truck is very vulnerable.

Or you could try hiding the SCUD somwhere near the edge of the map to avoid
	being detected by the enemy.

Avoid enemy air defenses and aircraft. The slow flying SCUD is an easy target
for ground defenses. Fly the SCUD at high altitudes until you near your
target. Then nose down and aim for the best target spot. Use the minimap to
keep track of your target area.

Try to hit areas that are heavily defended by enemies. The SCUD is a weapon
of mass destruction. It's meant to kill many enemies with a single rocket.
Try to target a vehicle in the middle of a large group to cause maximum
damage to surrounding vehicles and troopers.
