Information to modem users who uses 'annexen' to connect
to Ludd:

As some of you might have noticed, modem connections
might drop before you have a chance to logout, which
can result in that another user calls annexen, get
your old line and can do things on your account.

Now, there is a 'safer' way to use annexen, that
makes it harder for someone to get one of your old
lines by mistake. There is a possibility to
'lock' an annexen line with a password, so if
somebody get connected to your old line, they
can't get access to the line unless they give the
password that the line is locked with.

THIS TECHNIQUE IS RECOMMENDED TO ALL ANNEXEN USERS

To lock a line, you must at the annexen prompt give
the command 'lock <timeout>', where timeout is the
number of minutes that the line will remain locked
after a connection is dropped by mistake.
A recommended value for timeout is maximum 5 minutes.

You will be prompted to type in a password to lock
the port with and then a message is shown to confirm
that the port has been locked. FOR SECURITY REASONS,
DON'T USE YOUR PASSWORD AT LUDD TO LOCK THE LINE!

After this, rlogin to Ludd as usual, but first
note the number of the port you have locked.

IF YOUR CONNECTION SHOULD DROP SUDDENLY:

Immediately call annexen again, but DON'T USE THE
GROUP NUMBER (98020). Instead - use the direct
number for the line you used, by replacing the last
digit in the phone number with the number of the
line (that is 98021 for line 1, 98022 for line 2 and
	so on...).

This line should now be locked, and you'll have to
give your previous selected password in order to get
	in. That's it.

	WHEN YOU DISCONNECT FROM ANNEXEN:

When you have finished your session and are about to
disconnect from annexen, be aware that the line you
have locked might be locked from other users for the
numbers of minute you have stated in the 'lock'
command. Before using the 'hangup' command, please
	unlock the port.

For further information, type 'help lock' when at
	the annexen prompt.
