From: diego@minerva.st.dsi.unimi.it (Diego Montefusco) Subject: TECH: Holographic optics? Date: Wed, 14 Apr 93 14:19:05 CET In Pimentel and Teixeira's book there's an interesting thing I never heard about before: they say it is possible to duplicate a complex set of optics on inexpensive, lightweight plastic film via an appropriate hologram (pg.109). This could be of course a great breakthrough in HMD manufacturing, from the price and weight points of view. I'd like to have more info on this: is it completely true or are there some limitation on the complexity of the optic set? What about the QUALITY of the resulting image? Does anyone have any reference to some papers or articles on the topic? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much to everyone.
