Newsbytes reports that Sun, at a press conference in Boston, today
rolled out the "fastest desktop computer in the industry, along with
the lowest-cost multiprocessor system, two other multiprocessors, and
a development kit for Solaris 2.2.  The high-end 50 megahertz (MHz)
Model 51 is built on the new, 50 MHz SuperSparc+ microprocessor from
TI.

Mario Dal Canto, director of technical and industrial market
development for Sun, mentioned graphics, multimedia, and CAD
(computer-aided design) as some of the areas that can benefit most
from multiprocessing.

TI is also set to come up with a SuperSparc, SuperSparc+, and
SuperSparc II chips intended to fire up the whole shebang.
