Could someone help me, please?

>From snooping around in various VR groups
in the last few days, I have come to realize how general
the term: VR is; (perhaps this is due to the fact that it is 
still young).  It appears to encompass everything from 'the helmet'
to various interactive games.  

I assume there are many "launch pads" into the VR technology.  In
other words, it seems people with different backgrounds begin
exploring this technology from a known arena, say their own chosen
field.

Has anyone entered this technology from the area of finite element
analysis?

I assume it must be possible because FE, for those who know what it
is, endows a 'picture' of an object with physical properties.

Can anyone guide me?
