On July 2nd this year, we held an informal workshop on Immersive Virtual Environments here at Queen Mary and Westfield College, London. The day was a success with attendees from ten of the UK institutions involved in virtual reality research. The day was split up into several sessions the titles of which were: ``Psychology is the Physics of Virtual Reality.'' Implications of virtual reality for computer graphics research Presence in Virtual Environments. Object description standards Metaphors for Interaction The Sociology of Virtual Environments Future Actions for Fostering Research in the UK There is a report of the workshop available to anyone interested. It has two main sections: a summary of main points made in each session, and articles written by attendees about their own work and issues raised on the day.
