From: kintek@world.std.com (michael g joly) Subject: TECH: Gravis Ultrasound 3D-audio performance? Date: Wed, 7 Jul 1993 14:30:34 GMT The GUS/Focal Point combo appears to offer an attractive price/ performance ratio where real-time "convolution" of continuous audio is not required. That caveat aside, I am wondering if somone on sci.v-w could comment on the spatialization merits of the GUS/Focal Point as compared with the Beachtron from Crystal River Engineering. How well articulated is the externalized virtual audio image? How far from the head can GUS/FP externalize an image? Do what degree does GUS/FP create source elevation cues? What about front/back ambiguities? Also, has anyone integrated GUS/FP with WTK or CDK and are you willing to discuss your work? regards, Michael Joly Sound Director Boston Computer Society Virtual Reality Group
