From: elise maglio Subject: HARDWARE: How to design an embedded system? Date: Mon, 26 Jul 1993 19:57:37 CDT VIRTU-L Hi, I am thinking of developing an embedded system running on intel 486 CPU (s). I am not sure about the exact hardware architecture. What I am sure about is that the system will include a number of i486 (probably four) used for graphics calculations. The graphics will be displayed on a Head Mounted Display. The system will also be able to receive input data from outside devices (such as tracking devices) and output data to outside devices (such as movable dome). And finaly it will be conected to a network and use it to interact with similar devices. I almost forgot about interfacing with a CD-ROM. In short, I am thinking about developing an arcade game embedded system. What I have is my software development experience. What I lack is the hardware experience. If anybody out there (Rhode Island in particular) has any suggestions, and perhapse has a similar project in mind, please give me a holler. Also, if you know about any text books regarding this subject, please let me know. In short, anything that relates to this subject is welcome. Thank you.
