Formalising Scenarios in the Design of Safety Critical Systems
Human Computer Interaction Group

Applications are invited from software engineers, with an interest in
formal methods and / or human computer interaction, for a research
associateship that is available from 1 October within the Human
Computer Interaction Group. The project is funded by the Science and
Engineering Research Council and is available for a period of three
years.  The research is concerned with the integration of software
engineering techniques, for the design of dynamic, time critical,
interactive systems such as aircraft flight decks, with modelling
techniques taken from Human Computer Interaction. The objective of the
project is to provide, test and evaluate a method for the prescriptive
analysis of safety critical scenarios. The research associate will
work closely with existing members of the group comprising computer
scientists and psychologists. An expertise in formal methods will be
particularly valuable. Salaries will be on the 1A scale (#17,379
maximum). The deadline for applications is 27 August.  Informal
