From: stgprao@st.unocal.COM (Richard Ottolini) Subject: TECH: Virtual Vision TV-eyeglasses newspaper article Date: Thu, 24 Jun 1993 15:14:14 GMT Organization: Unocal Corporation The June 20 Sunday New York Times business section has an article about Virtual Vision's TV eyeglasses. There is also a figure simulating how the TV would appear (virtual virtual vision? :-) A small TV image is projected on the lower half of one eyeglass. One can still see most of the environment with the remaining eyeglass area. This was developed at the HIT lab where s.v.w. moderators come from. Anticipated early uses are camcorder playback, and portable-recreational TV. Sharper Image has it in their Christmas catalog for @$900. Since this is not yet immersive or interactive, I wouldn't really call this virtual reality. But this might be the technological direction peripherals are heading.
