There is a great new book on the market by Christopher Lambert
entitled "Flights of Fantasy".  It's geared towards programming 3-D
video games in C++, but the code contained therein can be easily used
for VR applications.  It comes with a disk with source code to a full
fledged flight simulator, so there's tons of stuff to glean here.

The only problem is that you need Borland C++, so if you're working
with Microsoft or some other compiler you'll have to translate.
