I am aware of the Cyberware 3D Digitizer along with the various
electromagnetic digitizers such as Ascension's stylus tracker and the
Polhemus tracker. Unfortunately these systems are expensive. The
Cyberware system, for example, uses a form of flying spot laser and
CCD array cameras (I presume) and can cost a mighty buck or two,
somewhere around $50,000 (U.S.) for a full color Hi Res. unit.  The
Ascension and Polhemus systems use near field electromagnetic sensors
and can run $5-$10K. and up with some l imitations that the Cyberware
system does not have.

Does anyone know of a cheap ( < $1500 ), low resolution, monochrome 3D
digitizer or scanner that will allow one to take an every day object
or small plastic replica and scan in a rough outline. Perhaps once the
rough outline is scanned in ,embellishments such as shading and color
, can be manually added using a 3D editor.  If anyone knows of

P.S. For those of you who have E-mailed me in the past but, got no
response from me I am sorry. Due to a technical problem with the Kodak
NYSERNET Gateway system most of my E-mail going out of the company was
being lost instead of being sent. The problem has since been resolved
and I am know able to communicate reliably with the E-mail world
outside of Kodak.
