From: rj@shebute.com (Ronald J. This device uses computer generated light and sound patterns fed through the eyes and ears to stimulate alpha and theta brain waves(day dreaming). It has been copied in a number of forms and is found in a number of mail order catalogues as a relaxation device. It works well. In playing with new ways to stimulate brain states, I developed two devices that do not need glasses to deliver light patterns. One sits on a desk(about 8 inches in size) and the other is held in the hand. By looking into the devices your brain is guided into the day dreaming state. Differing pattern of pulsing light are delivered to each eye independently. Your brain mixing these signals is what induces the alpha brain states and creates a wide range of visual responses. The devices will be marketed as brain games where you explore your brain by working your way through several levels. Level one of the exploration game make the user very aware of how they use vision (left eye, right eye or both) and can be used as a trainer for stereoscopic vision required for VR. The light you see in the device will change color depending on how you are using your brain(left side, right side or both). The upper levels of the game involve pattern recognition, imagination and visualization. I have patent pending and am closing deals with manufacturing and distribution and the productes will be publicly available by summer for about $100. Pre-production units are available upon request.
