I was just at a conferance on VR and one of the topics was
Cybersickness or the disorentation you mentioned.  This may prove to
be a bigger problem then epilepsy mainly because the effect is not
felt till hours after the VR event.  An interesting point was raised
that when movies first were invented, people would jump and become
disorented from some of the seens,  but now we think nothing of it. 
The same may happen with VR.  As a VR developer in the US, I'm
interested in this topic and would like to stay informed.
