From: cyberoid@u.washington.edu (Bob Jacobson) Subject: APPS: Vista Pro landscaper Date: 27 Mar 93 Newsbytes reports on Clarinet (clari.nb.ibm) that San Luis Opisbo, California-based Virtual Reality Laboratories has a new version of its software, Vista Pro. The system permits texturing, shading of vegitation, and will in the future offer morphing, too. Virtual Reality Lab's Flight Director can already move you through landscapes. Vista Pro turns those empty regions into rich terrains featuring different species of trees and brush. Rock texturing is also possible. There are also tools for displaying the built environment, human and animal habitation, and weather and geologic features. Larger landscapes are possible in version 3.0 with support for up to 1,026 by 1,026 data points. The company says images can be rendered in 24-bit color in both AT&T Targa and Windows 3.1 BMP formats and 24-bit backgrounds and foregrounds may be loaded either behind or in front of landscapes. Screen resolutions up to 1,280 by 1,024 are supported, but the image resolution can be as high as 4,096 by 4,096, Virtual Reality Labs added. Vistamorph is expected to be released in April. Vistamorph will retail for $69.95 and is only geared toward use with Vista Pro. Vista Pro version 3.0 is $129.95, but current users may upgrade for $45, the company added.
