Oh! I know - it's an old thread...just a few comments:

<> On the good side - it was a feast for film-critics ('whoa, next
time I'd take some dramamine for those spiralin' cam shots!'); high
camp for the cogniscenti; we got to tell our relatives to watch ('see
what it is now?'); and - best of all - few people probably watched it

it's patently banal paternity-based plot. Further, the depiction of
women in the series was classic TV: bitch, victim and lust interest.
(And I'll try to avoid commenting on the the sweet nuclear family
driving off into the sunset.)

I've enjoyed the posts here, agree with most, and just wanted to add
my concern that we be as aware of those times we see VR associated
with social/cultural insensitivity as much as we are when it is
associated with violence. We may not be able to do anything about it -
but we need to speak to it every chance we get. VR does not have to
replicate TV.
