I don't know how good it is, but MaK is selling a toolkit just for
this, VR-Link(tm): (I am not connected in any way to Mak)

MaK Technologies Inc.
380 Green Street
Cambridge, MA 02139
USA
Tel: (617) 876-8085
Email: wkatz@mak.com (Warren Katz) or vrlink-info@mak.com

There's also another product which connects machines over the standard
phone lines to run distributed real time simulations, and it is called
The Parallel Universe(tm) - again I didn't try it, nor I am connected
with the society which sells it:

Virtual Universe Corporation
Suite 510, 700 - 4th Avenue S.W.
Calgary, Alberta
Canada T2P 3J4
Tel: (403) 261-5652
Fax: (403) 237-0005
Email: jim@virtual.cuc.ab.ca (Jim Durward)

Hope this helps,

Diego
