First, an appeal: if you see a good article in some strange journal
that no one else here will likely discover, please report it to the
newsgroup.

BUSINESS WEEK (June 7, 1993) has an article on all of the various
strategic partnerships jockeying to deliver telecomputing to the home.
Conclusion: there is going to be one huge shakeout, and even then the
winner(s) may find no reward, as there is no sure audience for this
stuff.

Will they never learn?  People do not want more TV.  Sigh.

Joel Orr, Autodesk Fellow and executive director of the Virtual Worlds
Society, a nonprofit support group, has an interesting speculation in
his column in the professional journal, COMPUTER INTEGRATION, "Rivers
of Light."  He claims we are on the brink of applications break-
throughs, because the paradigm behind virtual words are so powerful
and irresistible.

Both EE TIMES (May 17) and A/E/C SYSTEMS (May/June 1993) feature
Worldesign's planned Virtual Environment Theater (VET) for practi-
tioners in architecture, engineering, and construction.  The system,
still being designed, is premised on the need to integrate and unify
the three fields so that practitioners in each come to share common
visions of joint projects.  No claims for performance, etc., until
the clients sign on the dotted line.
