Subject: INFO: VR Entertainment in SF Bay Area

One of my colleague's son (about 14 years old) is interested in
getting a VR entertainment experience (of some undefined nature) for a
Xmas present. My colleague has asked me to try to find out some
information about the details of such entertainment in the SF Bay
area. Can anyone provide information, names, phone numbers, etc.?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am an EE student at the University of Maryland and I have
been bitten by the VR bug. If anyone has information on interships
and co-ops in the R&D of VR field for companies such as Autodesk,
Sense8, W industries, or others; I would appreciate it.
Unfortunately, the UM co-op program does not have any companies
interested in VR.

                                Thanks in advance,

I am a Senior in college ,majoring in MATH/COMPUTER SCIENCE, and I
am in the process of finishing my Senior Coordination paper (eq.to a
thesis) on Virtual Reality. I am fascinated with VR and would love to
have a career in it. I am still not really sure of how to get started
in this direction, do you need any special background experience or VR
courses or can you just jump into it if you are a quick learner? I am
a quick learner and if anybody is interested in training/teaching me
for a job or as a internship, it would be great. I am finishing my
degree in December, and I am currently in the process of looking for a
job, and looking for universities that have might have courses in VR.
If you know of any places that offer courses, it would be great if you
could share them with me.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hello

My name is Roberto Micieli and I work at the University of Zuerich,
Switzerland. Together with Kornell Szabo we run the VR-Operations in
Zuerich. Our Platform consists of several SGI workstations, amongst
others an ONYX, a FASTRAK space-tracking system, a CyberGlove and a
FlightHelmet. We work on Divisions dVS. I am posting this short
resume so you know who I am and what I do.

Now, soon I am gonna take my vacations in the US. Therefore, I will go
to LA, SF, Pittsburgh and New York. I would absolutely not want to
miss the chance to go see some VR-companies and some VR-labs at your
Universities. Who can give me some names and contacts?

To find out what I can offer in exchange, why don't you travel to
Switzerland, I will be glad to show you all of our work!

Roberto

I think the paper Lance refers to is actually in 92 Siggraph Proceedings.
"High resolution VR" or something like that (quoting by heart); I don't
have it handy and I haven't put all Siggraph proceedings in my database,
YET!
The article details the implementation of an LC shutter glasses based
system which takes into account a lot of parameters such as eyeball size
and so on...
