I already have info on the optical system used at UNC, where they use 'cameras' mounted on the person's head. But I still need examples of systems using cameras (or some sort of optical sensors) directed AT the user. I have a paper called "Model-Based Object Pose in 25 Lines of Code" by Daniel F. DeMenthon and Larry S. Davis, Computer Vision Laboratory, CAR, U. of Maryland, where they find the pose of an object from a single image when the relative geometry of four or more noncoplanar visible feature points are known. This could be used for tracking a person by mounting a cube of LEDs on the user. I would like to know if anyone has used a similar (or the same) technique in VR.
