From: John Wann Subject: TECH: Using Interlink FSR sensors Tarun Kripalani was seeking pressure sensitive resistors. Regarding the "InterLink" FSR pressure sensors. These are very neat looking devices. Unfortunately, last time I looked at them (about 2 years ago) I perceived a problem in using them to sense human manipulation. The devices gave a linear output for forces above 100g (1N), but were markedly non-linear below 1N. Depending on what you want to use them for this may be a problem as many manipulative forces are in the range 0-2N and I couldn't think of a suitable way of "pre-loading" the device. This limitation may have changed now, so check it out with InterLink. If you want to measure grasp force etc... they may not be suitable unless you can design a clever pre-load mechanism. They would be fine as minimal weight on/off switches. John Wann Edinburgh Variable Resistor Project
