Many of the applications of virtual reality technology which receive the most attention from the media are still in the research and development or prototype stage. VeRGe 10.0 will focus on real applications of existing virtual reality technology. The meeting will include a panel discussion with leading virtual reality hardware and software developers from the around the bay area. Hands on demonstrations will include VR software developed with numerous tool sets including Sense8's WorldToolKit, Autodesk's Cyberspace Developer's Kit, and Dimension International's Superscape VRT3. David Frerichs of Future Vision Technologies and Clay Graham of PowerSpace will be demonstrating their Virtual Architecture applications: Finder, Toolset and No-Space. These applications use the fundamentals of physical architecture to apply virtual-worlds to computing tasks. Future Vision's Sapphire graphics and sound card will also be demonstrated. Zachary Zaidman of Gravity International will be talking about some of the creative applications relevant to current high-end virtual reality technology which Gravity is currently developing. Peter Rothman of Avatar Partners will be presenting vrTrader, Avatar's real-time visualization tool for financial traders. vrTrader receives real-time stock quotations via cable television, FM radio, or satellite and presents this data in a three dimensional virtual environment. Scott Redmond of RPI Inc. will be showing RPI's HMSI head mounted display and other recent hardware developments. Owen Rowley of Autodesk will also be demonstrating several CAD applications of the Cyberspace Developer's Kit.
