The only companies that have published anything worth reading in the refereed forums have been hardware vendors. Such as the various HMD people who publish in the SPIE Stereoscopic Displays and Applications conferences, and 2 or 3 papers on things like the DataGlove, VPL's RB2 system, and some of the work that resulted the Convolvotron. These papers are typically descriptions of hardware manufactured by the vendor who's publishing.
