The system is call fsn (pronounced fusion), and is a "file system navigator
in cyberspace" which basically lays out directories in a heirarchy, "with
each directory represented by a pedestal".

There is an article on it in the latest issue of IRIS On-Line (Silicon
Graphics' electronic journal) if you're interested. [Vol. 1, Issue 5].
