From: Randy Jackson Subject: ENTERTAIN : Mail Order VR! Catalog junkie that I am, I was browsing my new Best Products Co. catalog (P.O. Box 26303, Richmond, VA 23260) last night and lo-and- behold: there on page 19, right next to the Mortal Combat video game ad is an 8-year-old experiencing "The Virtual Reality Escape". Yes, VictorMaxx has made good on the promise of "first to market" with its headmounted display for video game players: "VictorMaxx The Great Virtual Reality Escape Stuntmaster. Virtual Reality headset plugs right into your Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis. No TV needed. Offers team play and 'shared power" possibilities. Great color, high-resolution, high- intensity graphics." This is the unit that has a roach-clip on a shaft that extends down to your shoulder from the right ear to track head movement. Cool...heh heh! Could this be the sacrificial lamb that Sega has offered up (by choosing not to deploy their own headmounted display until next year) to the consumer gods of usability, safety, and marketing?
