From: 3APP@qucdn.queensu.ca Subject: JOB-WANTED : Getting started (Virtual Reality) Organization: Queen's University at Kingston I am looking at pursuing a career in Virtual Reality systems engineering (from a hardware perspective), and would be interested in hearing from people in the field with regards to both the commercial aspects and the amateur experimentation. Just to give some background of myself, I am a second year engineering student specializing in Control and Communications Systems here at Queen's University. I had the good fortune to discover virtual reality by operating a Virtuality gaming system for two weeks during the summer, and I was hooked. This information is not just for my own personal use, as I have friends elsewhere without access to Internet, to whom I would be forwarding any replies and relevant materials found. Any suggestions on how I might get myself going with experimentation on my own time, i.e. Internet sources for text and programs for construction and programming devices such as a converted Power Glove, aer the sort of thing I'm looking for. Also educational institutions and companies that do research into VR. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated; Tnx in advance. Andy. VE3SLG What is available out there in the way of summer employment for someone like myself wishing to gain some practical experience with VR systems? Work in Canada would be preferable, however I have British citizenship too, and because I was born and raised in Canada, and am a Canadian citizen, the US is not out of the question either. 3APP@QUCDN.QueensU.CA
