GRADUATE PROGRAM: The University of Washington's College of
Engineering offers three degree options focusing on Interactive
Graphics and Virtual Environments, a Master of Science (M.S.) and a
Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) and a Ph.D.  Both Master's
degrees are administered within the College of Engineering's
Inter-Engineering Program.  The M.S.  degree is for applicants with a
non-engineering background (eg., behavioral science), the M.S.E. is
designed for applicants with an engineering degree.  Students with
behavioral science degrees must have a strong science and mathematics
preparation.  Finally, the Ph.D. is available through Industrial
Engineering with a focus on virtual environment and interface design.

CORE PROGRAM FOR M.S. AND M.S.E.: The following seven courses
represent the core courses for the Master's graduate program:
        Industrial Engineering, Advanced Interface Design.
        Technical Communication, Usability Analysis and Testing.
        Industrial Engineering, Introduction to Virtual Interface
          Technology.
        Psychology 523, Cognition, or Psychology 462, Information
          Processing or Vision.
        Industrial Engineering, Design of Experiments.
        A senior or graduate level course in Regression Analysis.
        Enrollment in 1 unit seminar series from the Department of
          Electrical Engineering (Imaging or Telerobotics) or the
          Department of Psychology (Cognitive or Vision).

CORE PROGRAM FOR Ph.D.: Typically, students pursue the Ph.D. in
Interactive Computer Graphics and Virtual Environments through
Industrial Engineering.  In consultation with an advisor, students
select courses in virtual environment design, interface design,
computer graphics, and statistics to represent the core set of courses
for the specialty.
