From: Robert Jacobson Subject: PUB: "3D COMPUTING! The Race is On...!" Business Week (Sept 4) Date: Sat, 26 Aug 95 18:14:09 -0700 Finally, Business Week has come across with an article that puts our work in a good light. This article needs to be seen, as it is one of the most beautifully designed ever to appear in BW (rather like a Web page). The big players are mentioned. One surprise is the description of a very large 3D effort being conducted at Microsoft, which takes direct aim (so the writers imply) at the whole workstation paradigm, SGI in particular. This is going to get VERY interesting! A good writeup too of Virtual I/O's significance and many other organizations, many of which appear on occasion in this newsgroup. Kudos to the editors of BW and especially to technology writers Peter Coy, in New York, and Robert D. Hof, in Mountain View. SIGGRAPH made the point, you are getting the message out: "VR," in the guise of "3D computing," is in. Bob Jacobson Worldesign Inc. Seattle
