The Virtual i-O does have a very clear picture and it's very light
weight.  Unfortunately the CyberMaxx was not functioning when I had my
chance to try out the HMD's at AVR Corp.  I myself have chosen to go
with the VFX1 from Forte and I'm very happy with it.  I get a much
greater immersion than I did with the Virtual i-O and the picture is
amazingly clear.  It has large headphones which cover your ears and
block out much of the external noise.  It's got a built in microphone
near the visor and a connection port which you can plug into it the
CyberPuck which comes with it.  The puck has 3 buttons and movement
that is tracks is pitch and roll.  You get very immersed when using
the VFX1, I was playing the demo of Hexen with it and I actually got
chills.

Marc's the expert on the subject and He'll be down to check it out
eventually and add the results to his analysis.
