I'm looking for some help in setting up an entry-level Amiga VR
setup. I've got a spare A1000 sitting around and was wondering if
there are any well-known VR hacks I can do to it. I've seen programs
to wire power gloves to Amigas, but most of the packages seem to be
out of date and very limited (one, for instance, will only work on
A500 and A2000 computers). Is there any way to hook up my Nintendo
PowerGlove to the A1000? And, if so, can it emulate a mouse? That
would be sweet. I also have a Victormaxx Stuntmaster HMD (originally
developed for use with the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis game
consoles)... I imagined that it would be relatively simple to rig this
up to the Amiga. I grabbed the pin-outs from somewhere, and have
hacked the Genesis cable up. I haven't tried any of this on the A1000
yet, so i'm not sure if it'll work, but i imagine the effects will be
relatively the same as how it worked with my A1200...? In any case,
the audio cables I made (from pin 14 and 15) work fine with the Ami's
audio L and R output, but I can't seem to get the video cable I made
to work. When I hook it up to the composite out jack, i just get a
strange buzzing noise and a flickering blank screen. Any idea? Would
it be different when i try it on the A1000? They both output standard
composite NTSC signals, right? I'd much rather base this whole thing
around the older Amiga because i have less to break and i'm not afraid
to do any mods to it that i have to. If anyone can help me or has any
suggestions or input, please get back to me asap... thnx!
