I have read newspaper reports about the NHL using electronically
tracked hockey pucks so that the position and path of the puck can be
enhanced for TV viewers.  It would obviously have to be source-less,
but how on earth do they work (the only technical detail I've read is
that they are battery-powered and the batteries run out every five
minutes or so, so the pucks have to be continually replaced).
