I would agree with John Costella.  Given that most individuals have at
most a few minutes to acclimatize to a virtual environment, tossing
the kitchen sink of novel experience at them will probably provoke
terror more than wonder.  And then try to get them to come back and
try again.

Much of the odium that appended itself to virtual worlds in the early
1990s had to do with bizarre worlds created to show off the inventors'
"skill."  (Or world imputed to VR, like those in LAWNMOWER MAN.)  Now
we're facing the onslaught of LAWNMOWER MAN II, which could administer
a coup de grace to our struggling field.  No sense in helping out!

(On the other hand, jaded old guys like me could use a shock or two...!)
