A quick note to my colleagues who read sci.virtual-worlds:

I just wanted to let you know that I recently left my position at
NYNEX Science & Technology (where I led the Virtual Reality Project),
and am starting a consulting group in Boston that will specialize in
virtual environments and other advanced human-computer interfaces. My
e-mail address has changed -- I can currently be reached at:
rory@speech.com. Apologies to my friends in the field whom I have not
had a chance to contact personally about these changes -- things have
been very busy.

Also, my book, "The Design of Virtual Environments" has just been
published by McGraw-Hill. They have information about it on a web
page,
http://www.infor.com:53311/cgi/getarec?mgh20001229

The book is a technically oriented one whose purpose is to provide
the reader with both the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary
to build VR systems that solve real-world problems. It emphasizes a
design methodology which, with the information from diverse relevant
disciplines that is presented, can be used by the reader to create
effective VR applications.

I think the book is unlike other books in this field due to its design
orientation....however, don't take my word for it, an author can not
even pretend to be objective about his own book (!), please give me
any feedback on the book.

I welcome your e-mail correspondence, as well as feedback on the book
but, since I am not getting to read usenet much recently, please
e-mail me directly at rory@speech.com.

Thanks!
