From: BOYER JACQUES Subject: MISC: About that Survey on VR Date: Mon, 27 May 1996 17:38:07 -0400 (EDT) SYNOPSIS OF THE SURVEY Basicaly, the questionnaire is meant to survey the opinion of people working with VR about the main obstacles that this technology is experiencing in the market place (broadly speaking). Two multiple choices questions are related to obstacles: one about ranking by importance (3) problems picked from a list and a second one about evaluating a period of time of resolution for each of the three problems identified. A third question is related to what people thinks as applications for VR. This question is also multiple choices. Four short multiple choices questions identify the respondants accordingly to the nature of their work and organization, their experience (in years) and the country where they work. Finally, respondants have three specific spaces to leave their comments. The analysis of this survey is to identify the main obstacles encountered by the technology. All five questions not related to the identification of problems as such are meant to study the impact of the background of the respondants or the "mission" expe cted from the technology as expressed as applications on the identification of obstacles. Lately, one hundred and fifty questionnaire had been turn back. Most came from addresses picked on HITL server and many asked to get a copy of the results. Yours, Jacques Boyer BOYER JACQUES
