A question regarding binocular camera heads:

What's the best method for correctly verging a stero pair from a
binocular camera head (assuming said head has verging DsOF)? Can it be
achieved by hardware (a range finding device for example), or software
working with frame grabbers? The simpler the better...

If software is the solution, are there any commercially available
packages around?
