As part of my research project at the University of Montreal, I have
ported VR386 to X windows. All assembler code was ported to C, and
then I rewrote the graphics routines for X. This program, called
Mirage, will eventually be distributed as shareware.

  At the moment the user interface is pretty much the same. Mirage
will read most .WLD files (a few minor bugs remain). WorldToolKit NFF
files can also be read. Anyone who used or is using VR386 or Rend386
might want to take a look. There is a demo immediately available for
SGi, SUN OS and Linux systems. This demo executable is almost
identical to the VR386.EXE viewer. A power station in NFF format is
included. Of course, you may try any WLD files also.
