Sounds like an interesting project to me. Maybe you could make a little bit more clear to us (me?) what you expect to be able to do with the system when it is ready. For instance, it's not clear to me what kind of interaction you would like to include. You could zoom in on specific organs or layers of tissue, you could view body parts from different angles or using different renderings, etc. This could be done with a button box I guess. For real interaction (one of the key-components of a VR system) you might want to go one step further and add a head-tracked HMD allowing one to walk around a virtual body and maybe even include a force-feedback system to give corresponding haptic impressions as well. So, how far do you guys want to go? Good luck.
