It is also the first time that I post something because I've got a problem and need some suggestions. Actually I'm working in the field of virtual reality based prototyping with Force Feedback Systems. With this system I want to manipulate any kind of virtual environment directly. That means for example that I don't use any representation of my finger to dial a number on my virtually created mobile phone but manipulate the digits directly. So what I need is a collision detection between my finger (represented by the force feedback system) and the virtual digits on my virtual mobile phone. Now the problem that I have is that I don't know how to transfrom the coordinate system of my Force Feedback device into the coordinate system of my virtual environment because this has another scaling behaviour than the coordinate system of the feedback device (to create my environment I use the WordToolKit and for viewing I use shutter glasses and a monitor working in stereo mode). It is evident that the scaling of my environment depends on the distance the user looks at the monitor through his glasses further on my monitor resolution and many more features. But how to combine these features to a scaling factor with regard to the transformation I don't know. So if anyone has got advices or recommdendations it would be great. Thanks a lot Gernot P.S.
