(via NETCOM Internet Ltd. USENET service). Dear Sir or Madam, I am an MSc. student at the London School of Economics and I am interested in the applications of virtual reality and virtual environments to business and financial institutions. I would like to approach the field from a critical and sociological point of view rather than a technical one. My major questions are: Is VR/VE really as effective as it seems or is it just immagination and media? Why we should use VR/VE instead of other techniques of simulation? Who is making money out of VR/VE? Why are they making money? Is it because they are actually offering something substantial and useful or are they just speculating? Who is interested in actually implementing VR/VE in their company today or in the near future? Why? What are the main issues involved in socilogical and technical terms?i.e. Identity, Security .......and many other questions, I would like to find an answer to. Please if you know of any source of information that can answer my questions or provide me with a non technical and critical argument on VR and VE, send me an e-mail at the address below: aurora96@netcomuk.co.uk StefyB
